The Monterey Murray Grey stud was founded in 1976, when we purchased a line of stud females from the dispersal sale of Gary's father's Arumvale stud, one of the early Murray Grey studs in Western Australia.

Today, more than 350 registered Monterey Murray Grey females have been joined to calve in 2011. In addition, another 300 registered Monterey Angus females have been joined.

A feature of our operation is our annual production sale, held at the Knutsford Selling Complex in Kojonup. Our inaugural sale was held in 1992, with 34 stud females catalogued, along with 7 bulls for stud and commercial use. Our 19th sale, held at Knutsford earlier this year, saw over 80 Monterey bulls catalogued. (54 Murray Grey & 30 Angus) along with 25 stud females.

Over the past 3 years we have also held a Winter bull sale in May. This year's sale (2011) features 30 Murray Grey bulls along with 25 Angus.

Notably, for the past 10 years, Monterey has consistently sold more Murray Grey bulls at auction than any other stud globally, attracting stud and commercial buyers from all states of Australia.

The stud, located at Karridale WA, is run with the help of two full time employees , and two part time.
