Special Winter Bull Sale 27/5/09
With 500+ registered MG females and 300+ Angus females being joined over the past few years, we now have a large pool of bulls from which to select our sale draft. Traditionally, we have held bulls for private sale throughout the winter, but with the expansion of the female herd and subsequent weaners, space is at a premium.
The decision to have this special winter bull sale has been influenced by the comments of stock agents, as to the quality of our private sale mob. Most of these bulls were too young and lacking maturity back in January when the main sale team was selected. Now 4 months on, these younger bulls have developed into impressive types, and average over 800kg.
Murray Grey sires represented include Monterey Unit Holder Z16, Monterey Prince Z131, Monterey Zorro Z183, Monterey Egyptian, Impeccable, Whirlwind and Willalooka York.
Angus sires represented include Wallaroy Expert, New Design 1407, Lawsons New Design Z122, Monterey Virtuoso V200 and Lawsons Yield Grade A90.
All bulls are semen tested and breeding soundness evaluated, as well as being vaccinated against vibriosis and BVDV for the purchaser’s protection.
As always, our bulls are guaranteed for 2yrs against any genetic defects.
Tarlina Bull Sells To WA (Courtesy Farm Weekly 26/3/09))
South Australian Murray Grey genetics are headed to WA in the near future after Monterey stud principals Gary & Julie Buller, Karridale invested in a new sire at the recent Tarlina Murray Grey sale in Port Lincoln.
The Bullers paid the $9500 top price of the sale for the 23 month old Tarlina Cairns C18.
The 905kg bull was by Tarlina Z16 and had EBV's of +28, +39 and +53 for 200, 400 and 600 day growth, +5 for milk and +30 for carcase weight.
Mr Buller said Cairns C18 appealed for his great length, thickness and muscling coupled with terrific structural correctness and growth for age.
With the $9500 bull heading to WA are Tarlina stud principals Rodney (left) and Ruth Gregurke Port Lincoln, SA and buyers Monterey stud principals Julie and Gary Buller, Karridale WA.

Supreme Trade Exhibit 2005
At the 2005 Perth Royal Show, Murray Greys and their crosses almost completed a clean sweep of the hoof classes in both the Led Steer & Heifer competition and in the Trade Cattle section. In a remarkable performance, they won 9 out of 10 Trade Cattle Championship broad ribbons, and 7 out of 10 broad ribbons in the Led competition.
We were pleased to have contributed to the result by exhibiting the Champion Heavyweight division winner, who went on to be Grand Champion Trade Exhibit and then won then Supreme Exhibit over the Grand Champion Led Steer – another Murray Grey.
Our winning entry was a beautifully muscled daughter of Monterey Sundowner. She was described by the judge as a magnificent heifer with great muscling, smoothness and ideal fat cover. This was a first for the girls, as no heifer has previously achieved this in Perth.
